Ishmael Scott Reed (born February 22, 1938) is an American poet, essayist, and novelist. Reed is one of the best-known African-American writers of his generation.

This small painting is part of my tribute to people from Oakland, California. These portraits feature people who lived, worked, or had some (major) affiliation with Oakland.
